Use the in-game browser first
The integrated browser is the supported route for discovering, downloading and managing mods. It reduces manual file handling and supports the game’s cross-platform strategy.
Before subscribing, read the description, update date, dependency list and supported version. Screenshots show appearance but do not prove compatibility with your save or other mods.
Enable content deliberately
Use a test save when trying a new infrastructure, industry or script mod. Enable a small set, load the save and inspect any warnings. If the mod adds buildable content, place and operate a small example before using it throughout the map.
Updates and dependencies
A mod update can change behavior or requirements. When a previously stable save develops a problem, check recently updated mods as well as newly installed ones. Missing dependencies can present as absent objects, load errors or disabled content.
Recovery order
- Back up the affected save.
- Note every warning shown during loading.
- Disable the newest or most recently updated mod.
- Test without optional mods.
- Restore required dependencies before opening the main save.
- Report reproducible issues with game and mod versions.
Manual installation
The official FAQ says manual download and sharing remain possible. Use it only when the source is trusted and the mod provides clear installation instructions. Do not mix multiple copies of the same mod from different sources.
